Who Are We?
Croatian American Sports Hall Of Fame (CAS-HOF) is affiliated with the National Federation of Croatian Americans Cultural Foundation (NFCACF). Our mission is to recognize Croatian Americans who have achieved national notoriety for their achievements in sports in the United States and Canada.
Croatian American Sports Hall of Fame Story
The National Federation of Croatian Americans Cultural Foundation (NFCACF) officially announced the formation of the Croatian American Sports Hall of Fame (CAS-HOF) on October 1, 2019. In 2020, a committee was formed to include Co-Chair Steve Rukavina, Co-Chair Vedran Nazor, Derek Hohn, Jim Kresnik, and Tom Steich. The CAS-HOF mission is to recognize Croatian Americans who have achieved national notoriety for their achievements in sports in the United States and Canada. The selection categories are athlete, coach, referee, broadcaster, sports management, and overall contributor to the world of sports.
In November 2021, the CAS-HOF Committee established the selection criteria and nomination process. It began to receive nominations in January 2022. To assist in the selection process, the CAS-HOF Committee chose five prominent Croatian Americans to become part of the ten member CAS-HOF Selection Committee in March 2022. They were, Jerome Jurenovich, Ken Krsolovic, Dino Mattessich, Pete Radovich, and Al Saracevic. The selection committee screened all nominations and voted to select the first inductees to be recognized at a dinner on October 16, 2022, at the American Croatian Lodge in Eastlake, Ohio.
